About Ron Ward...

I am a self-taught sculptor and painter. I built a small foundry so I could play with runny metal, as I love materials and processes. I thought I could cast bronze for local artists. But one thing leads to another and eventually led me to create my own bronze art. I get great pleasure from the process that allows me to share my vision through my art.
Over the past few years I have been uncovering the possibilities in encaustic painting; Another technology as ancient as bronze casting. I had the wax, had the heat, so why not. As an encaustic painter I am finding new expression in color.

A small note here: Encaustic paint is beeswax, tree resin, and pigments. The wax binds the pigments together in the same way that linseed oil is used in oil paint, and gum arabic in watercolor.
